Dubai FAQs

Is Dubai Safe?

Dubai has been declared as one of the top ten safest cities in the world by The World Economic Forum, owing to its core focus of building a safe and inclusive society where laws and frameworks are put in place to protect both residents and visitors alike.

What is the best time to visit Dubai?

Dubai has worked hard to defy the elements, bringing year-round entertainment and lots to see and do. There’s a ton to do outdoors in the winter and lots available in the summer. Even our bus stops are air-conditioned as we stop at nothing to fulfil our great reputation as a year-long destination.

How can I get a visa to Dubai?

Visiting Dubai has never been easier with Rove’s Happiness Centre here to help you apply and get your visa processed. Just email hello@rovehotels.com. For more info, feel free to check this Dubai Visit Guide.

What languages are spoken in Dubai?

The official language of Dubai is Arabic, widely spoken by Emirati’s and the Arabic diaspora in the city, however, it is not a pre-requisite for feeling at home, as this vibrant city has become home to around 200 nationalities! As such, English is the most commonly spoken language, reflected in road signs, menus and many of Dubai’s digital spaces too.

Is there any social etiquette I should be aware of?

Physical interaction between people meeting for the first time usually starts and ends with a handshake, which when involving a woman, should be initiated by her. Pubic displays of affection are not accepted in Dubai beyond handholding and this should be kept into consideration.

Is it possible to do a day trip from Dubai to other Emirates?

Aside from Dubai, there are six other Emirates offering lots to see and do and they’re pretty much all a day-trip away. Visit the Louvre and Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi (1.5 hrs) or float amongst the mangroves in Ajman (45 mins), surf the Dunes of Umm Al Quwain (50 mins) or look out from the Gulf to the Arabian Sea sunsets on Fujairah’s mountainous coastline (1 hr 45 mins).

What’s the best way to move around Dubai?

With extensive investment into the city’s infrastructure and transport, getting around Dubai couldn’t be easier. There’s a lot of to choose from when planning you’re A-B, including rail, tram, sea, water-taxi, ride-hail apps, city taxis and car hire, they’re all hop-on & off options for exploring the city.

Are there any clothing considerations to keep in mind?

What to wear and when to care in Dubai is not as difficult to figure out as you might think. Keep the swimwear for the beaches, waterparks, public pools and spa areas and away from business districts and shopping malls. Conservative covering is required for entering a mosque including covering of the hair for women, whereas keeping yourself clothed from your shoulders till below your knee is expected in government and heritage sights.

Are there any tipping rules?

Famously known for its exceptional service and world-class offerings, it’s understandable that you’d like to reward it with a tip or two. Whereas there are no set rules on tipping in Dubai where it is neither expected, yet highly appreciated, you can consult this tipping guide to help you along your way: https://www.visitdubai.com/en/articles/tipping-in-dubai
